Low back pain
Summary
The Lower back, which starts below the rib cage, is called the lumbar region. Symptoms of low back pain range from a dull ache to a stabbing or shooting sensation. The pain may make it hard to move or stand up straight. Acute low back pain comes on suddenly, and pain that lasts more than three months is considered chronic.
Cause
Low back pain was thought to result primarily from structural disorders, such as herniated discs. While that may occur in some cases, many low back pain complaints are a result of poor lifestyle, and impairment/tension of the fascia that allows for movement of the spine. The low back can be a weak point in the spine if the surrounding muscles and fascia are not properly supported and strengthened.
