Knee Pain
Summary
A Knee injuries are a common occurrence amongst athletes. The knee, begin a hinge joint, has less mobility than many other joints. It is designed to move forward and backward with a limited amount of side–to–side or twisting motion. Due to the already limited mobility, the configuration of the ligaments that hold it steady, and the amount of body weight that legs are required to support, Knee sprains are among the most complicated and difficult injuries to rehabilitate. They can be caused by collisions during any type of contact sport, or by sudden and quick changes in direction. Chronic knee pain can be caused by things like wearing away of cartilage, or improper movement of the kneecap on the underlying bones.
Cause
The cause of knee pain can have many different pathologies. Most commonly knees are injured during activity; athletic sports, or daily movements, combined with the effects of time and gravity can damage the ligaments, wear down cartilage and meniscus, or cause mechanical problems such as arthritis
Effects
Signs and Symptoms of knee pain are: Swelling and stiffness, Redness and warmth to the touch, Weakness or instability, Popping or crunching noises, inability to fully straighten the knee. It can affect your daily life making hard to walk, move up and down such as getting up from chairs and stairs. It makes it miserable to walk and typical thing for people to do is not move there knee making it even harder to recover from.
