Whiplash
Summary
Whiplash is a neck injury due to forceful, rapid back-and-forth movement of the neck resulting in symptoms such as neck pain, stiffness, headaches and more.
Cause
Whiplash more commonly occurs during a rear-end auto accident, but the injury can also result from physical trauma, or contact sports.
Effects
When the head is forcefully thrown backwards then forwards in such a quick motion, it can injure the muscles, nerves, and other tissues of the neck.
Most people who have whiplash recover within a few weeks. Although, others may experience pain for several months or years following the date of the original injury.
Treatment
Our therapists will work to lengthen, unwind and reorganize areas of restricted myofascia in the neck using a variety of integrated techniques. Structural Physiotherapy in combination with our re-patterning and mobility exercises will provide increased range of motion and the ability for the neck to return to a balanced, nurtured, pain-free state of being.
